No proof of mermaids, says US government

There is no proof that mermaids are available, a US govt medical organization has said.

The Nationwide Beach Assistance made the uncommon announcement in reaction to public queries following a TV display on the fictional animals.

It is thought some audiences may have wrong the program for a documented.

"No proof of marine humanoids has ever been discovered," the service wrote in an online publish.

The Nationwide Beach Assistance - a department of the Nationwide Oceanographic and Environmental Agency (NOAA) - published an content the other day on its academic website, Beach Information.

Images and stories of mermaids - half-human, half-fish - appear in myth and art from across the world and through record, from Homer's Journey to the dental tradition of the Australia aboriginals, the service wrote.

The content was published from openly available resources because "we don't have a mermaid technology programme", Nationwide Beach Assistance speaker Mom Kavanagh informed the BBC.

She said that at least two people wrote to the organization asking about the animals.

The queries followed May's transmitted of Mermaids: The Body Found, on the Development Channel's Pet World system.

The program was a work of stories but its wink-and-nod structure obviously led some audiences to believe it was a technology knowledge display, the Development Route has recognized.
